Legends win 6th straight, 6-3 over Fontanetti’s

After six lead changes in Monday’s game at San Jose Academy, Legends pulled out a 6-3 win over Fontanetti’s A’s. The Legends pitching was outstanding with 16 strikeouts, but it took a
a solo home run by Jeff Keller off Toccalino for the Legends to take the lead for good. Keller had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.

Starter Eric Davila threw five strong innings and recorded 8 strikeouts, but allowed 4 hits, 4 walks and hit a batter in allowing two earned runs. CJ Jacobe added 4 k’s in two innings and captured the win. Hard working Joe Goldenberg worked the final two innings, striking out the side in the 8th and collected the save.

The bottom of the first saw Fontanetti’s A’s take an early lead, 1-0. The Legends brought home two runs in the second inning on hits by Keller, Goldenberg and a two rbi double by Travis Bonner.

Legends scored one run in the fourth inning on a single by Grant Nelson and rbi single by Mike Marcoux. Fontanetti’s tied the game in the seventh on a double and two walks before Keller’s blast in the 8th.

The Legends added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth. Pierson Jeremiah singled to score Tyger Pederson and scored on a Keller double.

The Legends and Athletics meet Tuesday July 17th at Canada at 5:00 in the deciding game of their three game series. The Legends will be attempting to extend their current win streak to seven.
