Manager David Klein must feel like he is aging a week with each game as the Menlo Park Legends won their 8th game in a row 7 to 6 against the San Francisco Seals in 10 innings at Laney College. Ten of the last eleven games have been decided by three runs or less.

Joe Goldenberg hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth to score Jeff Keller and then loaded the bases Brian Wilson style before striking out the final two Seals hitters to end the game. Goldenberg racked up three RBIs on a hit and sacrifice fly for Legends.

Ricky Guerrero got the win for Legends. He tossed 1 2/3 innings of shutout ball. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit. Start Jacob Eichhorn cruised through the first three innings before surrendering six runs in the fourth. Six Seals hits and a hit batter contributed to the rally. The Seals scored on an RBI double by Isias Alcantar, a two-run double by Rashad Tillman, an RBI single by Eli Alcantar, a groundout by Pat Collins-Bride, and an RBI single by Dante Broome.
Legends had jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Keller tripled and scored on a fielder’s choice. The Legends then tacked on another run when Goldenberg scored on an error.

The Legends got a run in the fourth inning scoring Grant Nelson who had singled and advanced on a Travis Bonner double.

The games was tied in the sixth when Tyger Pederson reached on an error, JT Greenhood was hit by a pitch, Pierson Jeremiah walked, Keller walked to force in a run, Nelson had a ground-out, and Goldenberg had an rbi single.

In the bottom of the 8th, with the game tied at 6, Ricky Guerrero came in to pitch. With a runner on 3rd and 1 out, Guerrero got a fly out to left. The runner on the play tagged from third and Abi Arias’ throw from left was great, but the runner slid in safely. However, on appeal, the runner was called out at 3rd for leaving the base early and the Legends survived to the 9th still tied.

The Legends play the Seals for a third time July 20th at Canada at 5:00 pm before facing the Southern Oregon Riverdogs over the weekend at Canada.
