Menlo Park Legends 2026 Preseason Preview
The Menlo Park Legends enter the 2026 California Collegiate League season with momentum and optimism after an encouraging 2025 campaign. Under second-year head coach Nick Sanzeri, the Legends hovered around the playoff race in the CCL North falling just short deep into the summer despite injuries and roster turnover. The season was highlighted by five CCL All-Stars — Diego Menjivar, James Bose, Quincy Via, Will Anderson, and Austin Rabago — who helped establish a strong foundation for the program’s future.
Early preseason exhibitions against the Fresno A’s provided an exciting preview of the club’s potential. Lewis & Clark (DIII) product Michael Aikawa reached base eight times across the two games while collecting three hits and scoring three runs. Carlos Cruz Mar of Monterey Peninsula College showcased his offensive upside with a triple, two RBIs, and multiple runs scored, while transfer portal prospect and former Fresno State Bulldog Barclay Ovalle contributed three hits, two RBIs, two stolen bases, and aggressive baserunning that helped generate offense. Fresno City College product Tyler O’Toole added multiple hits, including a double, along with a stolen base and several standout defensive plays.
The Legends also received strong contributions throughout the lineup. Nate Bateman of the University of Puget Sound (DIII) collected three hits in limited opportunities; Westcliff University slugger Ryan Duron drove in two runs, and former CSU Bakersfield outfielder Casey Leavitt-McGee reached base four times. On the mound, returning CCL All-Star Diego Menjivar, now in the transfer portal after competing at Bradley, struck out four batters in his preseason appearance, highlighting a pitching staff that showed both depth and swing-and-miss potential heading into the summer.
Leading the offense this season is Westcliff University infielder Ryan Duron, who is coming off a remarkable year in which he hit .430 with 80 hits, 10 home runs, 56 RBIs, and a 1.171 OPS being a top five hitter among the NAIA league leaders. His combination of power and contact ability gives the Legends a proven middle-of-the-order bat capable of changing games with one swing or extending rallies through consistent production.
Joining him is Ohlone College standout Jordan Medina, who earned Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Coast Conference, Gold Glove, and All-NorCal Region honors after batting .385 with 77 hits, 61 runs scored, 51 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases. Medina’s athleticism, defensive versatility, and ability to get on base make him one of the most exciting players on the roster.
On the mound, the Legends will feature Division I right-handers Henry Harding of Holy Cross and Quinn Larson of Cal. Harding recorded 29 strikeouts in 30 innings as a freshman, while Larson struck out 23 batters in 20 innings this spring and brings a pedigree that includes Rawlings/Perfect Game All-American honors. With a balanced mix of offensive firepower, athleticism, and high-level pitching, the 2026 Menlo Park Legends appear well-positioned to compete for a playoff spot and continue the program’s upward trajectory in the California Collegiate League.
