The Menlo Park Legends intercollegiate baseball team won three of four games down in San Luis Obispo this past weekend. In the four games, the Legends outscored both of their opponents, the San Luis Obispo Blues and North County Indians 52 runs to 24 runs.

Menlo Park’s hitting continued to stay hot, hitting a team total of seven home runs in the four games. Two of the home runs came from Skylar Brewer, one being a grand slam. The other five came from Joe Goldenberg, Mike Marcoux, JT Greenhood, Jeff Keller and Grant Nelson. Andrew Castañeda and Tyger Pederson both saw the ball very well this weekend, amassing many hits each in all of the games.

The Legends pitching staff had a strong weekend as well. CJ Jacobe got his first appearance on the mound this summer and earned his first win. Alon Leichman went four scoreless innings in the second game of the doubleheader versus the Indians (7 innings) and Darren Gidley came in and finished the shutout. Manager David Klein got his first appearance of the season in the game two shutout at catcher and threw a runner out in his debut. Ray Torres and DJ Sharabi both started games as well and each performed very well.

The Legends face the Fontanetti’s Athletics on July 3 at 5:00pm at San Jose Academy and then travel back to San Luis Obispo to compete in the 2012 Rawlings California Cup Tournament.
