The Legends traveled to Sonoma this weekend to take on the Sonoma Stompers. The Legends had a very eventful Wednesday afternoon, crushing their way to a blowout victory over the CCL rival, San Luis Obispo Blues, by the final score of 14-2. The offense dominated and took the momentum into the weekend.

Friday

James Bose has been quite the reliable bat for the Legends this year, and continues to prove himself in the Legends’ batting order. Bose had an impressive night at the plate, flashing his power as he parked two home runs over the left field fence. Joseph Lee started on the hill once again for the Legends, throwing 5.1 strong innings for Menlo.

The Legends’ offense saw some early production after Bose’s third-inning home run, holding onto a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning. TJ Schmalzle added some insurance for Lee, crushing a solo shot of his own to make it 3-1.

The Stomper offense stormed back in the bottom of the sixth, scoring 3 runs to take the lead before the Legends came back in the late innings. The Stompers would end up scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth to secure the victory and beat the Legends in walk-off fashion.

Saturday

Saturday saw Menlo best the Stompers to even the series, as the bats continued to stay hot for the Legends. Menlo saw great production from several players throughout the night, including another two-hit day for James Bose that included a clutch 2-RBI double in the fourth.

Austin Robago added an RBI single early in the 2nd inning to start the rally for the Legends. TJ Schmalzle had a two-hit night, including an early 2-RBI single shortly after that, which helped the Legends get out to an early lead.

Quincy Via, Dane Most, and Isaiah Landry swung it well, each having two hits in a great twelve-hit night for the offense. The Legends offense continues to prove to be one of the best in the CCL, and Saturday was another example.

Along with some clutch hits and early scoring, Menlo got some very quality frames of the bullpen late in the game from Evan Moll and Will Marlin to secure the victory.
