Legends Lose Heartbreaker to Crabs

The Menlo Park Legends dropped a heartbreaker to the Humboldt Crabs in the rubber game of their series 3 to 2 in 11 innings. Legends Manager David Klein may wish Jimmy MacWilliam had decided to stay on Oahu a few more days instead of making Sunday’s game as MacWilliam recorded the last two outs of the top of the 11th on the mound and then singled in the winning run in the bottom of the eleventh for the Crabs
MacWilliam overshadowed the heroics of Mike Marcoux who hit a one-out two run homer in the top of the 9th to break the Crabs shutout and tie the game for the Legends.
Pitching dominated early as Darren Gidley (Cyress College) and Johnny Melero (San Jose State) each went six strong innings. A throwing error allowed the Crabs a run in the first in a game that saw the Legends hit four doubles and be unable to score any of the runners.
DH Tyger Pederson had three hits for the Legends but the Crabs staff continued to be stingy in issuing only four walks over the 11 innings.
The Legends host the NORCAL Longhorns on Wednesday at Canada.
