Five Legends going to CCL All-Stars

The best of the best ball players are trekking down south to play in this season’s CCL All-Stars game.

This year, the Menlo Park Legends are sending down Tommy Bell, John Montgomery, Robert Henry, Cody Strong, and Cameron Linck to Compton, California to represent their team in the CCL All-Star game, July 15.

These five Legends’ have proved to be all-star worthy after working hard and having memorable plays in the first half of their season. They will have the opportunity to show their best baseball to the many scouts that will be attending the game.

First baseman from Eastern Michigan University, John Montgomery, has been the centerpiece in the Legends’ line up. All summer long Montgomery has been strong bat with forty-three hits, nineteen runs, twenty-two RBI’s and four homeruns. He has a batting average of 0.326, thirty-four games deep into the season.

“I’ve been wanting to do [All Stars] ever since the first day of summer,” Montgomery said. “It is one of the days that I’ve been looking forward to.”

Joining Montgomery will be outfielder, Robert Henry from Brown University. Henry has scored the most runs this season at twenty-six. He has forty hits, two homeruns, twenty-one RBI’s and the highest batting average on the team hitting 0.348 on the season. Henry is currently ranked eleventh on the 2015 CCL Leading hitters.

General manager David Klein, knew from the beginning that Henry’s versatility on the field and power hitting would get him sent to the All-Star game to represent the Legends.

Cameron Linck from Louisiana Tech proved that he was All-Star worthy after punching out eleven batters during his six innings on the mound, shutting out the San Luis Obispo Blues for a Legends victory.

“[The game is] something you take and build on throughout my career,” Linck said. “It’s a stepping stone of where I want to be and becoming the pitcher I want to one day be.”

In his seven appearances for the Legends, Linck has a 2.13 ERA; giving up sixteen runs while striking out forty-one batters in thirty-nine innings. He credits “Wild” Bill Ryan for getting him prepared for All-Stars.

Second baseman, Cody Strong, from Purdue University will also be representing the Legends at the game. Strong has been a key defensive players so far this season, helping the Legends get 1-2-3 innings in many games. On offense, Strong has made great contact all year working the ball deep into the count with nine runs, twenty-one hits and nine RBI’s.

Currently the hottest hitter on the Legends, outfielder Tommy Bell from New Mexico State University will be the fifth Legend to travel down to All-Stars. Bell’s hard work to adjust his swing has paid off with some of the Legends’ best hitting so far this season. In game three of the three-game PUF Cap series, Bell would go 4-4 with three doubles, three RBI’s and a stolen base. He capped off the pre-All Star break with a 2 home run game against the Walnut Creek Crawdads.

Half way deep into the season, Bell is hitting .331 with eighteen runs, thirty-nine hits, and thirty RBI’s and leads the team with 6 home runs.

General Manager Klein is honored to send down five of his strongest Legends to play in the All-Star game that will be televised nation-wide.
